Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Thanks to its bactericidal properties, sage is also used externally for rinsing the mouth and throat, for purulent gum inflammation, thrush, and tonsillitis. Sage infusion is also used for compresses on slow-healing wounds, leg varicose ulcers, and as an additive to baths for rheumatic diseases, rashes, and other skin conditions. Sage leaf tea prevents diarrhea, and is also used for vaginal irrigation in cases of vaginal discharge. It is also a (weak) antifungal and antitussive agent, alleviating symptoms experienced during menopause, and effective for hypersalivation.
