Orange blossom honey is relatively little known in Poland. Which is a pity, as it is extremely nutritious and rich in mineral substances.
It has a light colour, sometimes tinged with shades of tea, or even straw-yellow.
It is characterised by an exceptionally pleasant yet mild taste of orange blossoms. And precisely because of its delicacy, it is ideal as an addition to all desserts, such as ice cream, beverages or yoghurts. And it should be mentioned that it is an addition that not only enhances the taste of these dishes but also increases their nutritional value.
Orange blossom honey is indeed exceptionally rich in minerals. What's more, it has highly antiseptic properties, so it will help, for example, with throat inflammation. Additionally, it has a cleansing and calming effect on upset stomachs caused by stress. It is also a natural panacea for insomnia problems.
Orange honey is produced in Greece as a local product by the multi-generational family beekeeping company Fotopoulos "Meli Taygetos".
We encourage you to watch videos of the apiaries from which our honeys come. http://www.melifotopoulos.gr/gallery-video.html
In 1980, Michael X. Fotopoulos, together with his wife Maria Fotopoulos, timidly began as amateurs with five beehives in the garden of their home in Akritochori Messenia.
The honey produced was sufficient for the needs of their family, for their three children Christina, Antonia and the younger Haralambos, close and dear friends. Michael and Maria decided after a few years and from amateurs became professional honey producers. Sharing the wonderful taste and nutritional values with all their loved ones.
Thus, in 1983, the five beehives became 200 and moved from their home garden to the Mani region and the Taygetos mountains. The excellent quality of their products attracted new customers while maintaining traditional production. All provide the generous and beneficial advantages of honey and other pure products (pollen, royal jelly and fragrant mountain herbs).
In 1994, his son Harry Fotopoulos took over the business and participated in training seminars and acquired the appropriate knowledge for the profession, which, along with art and his parents, continued the secret of success. The parents still approach the production of honey and all its derivatives, the development of the company, and participation in the most important honey festivals with great eagerness and passion. It is currently registered with the Kalamata beekeepers' cooperative.
ISO 22000:2005 certified.
Fotopoulos "Meli Taygetos" beekeeping obtained ISO 22000:2005 certification for the production, packaging and marketing of bee products on January 8, 2009.
